It's almost a month since the last post; I'm surprised I can still remember my password . Anyway, a lot has happened since my last post.
My daughter and her husband came to visit us briefly.
My wife and I went to Laredo.
It's rained a lot.
My father turned 80.
One of my sisters has a cholesterol count of over 400.
I've joined a discussion group on developing critical thinking skills in college studens. The text we're using is Engaging Ideas; the first three chapters were kind of boring, I think, but these next three we'll be discussing are rather interesting, going more into writing assignments, styles and formats rather than theory.
My picture came out in the Pan American newspaper. There was an article on the Writing Center, and yours truly's picture came out, showing me discussing a paper with a student.
The tv premiers have started, and I'm presently watching Smallville. So far, Clark has exhibited a new power-flight.
If I think of anything else that's worth posting, I guess I'll add it to the list.

Birds like them too

I spent a couple of hours today waiting for the little woman to come out of Region 13 where she was attending some sort of workshop or something. Anyway, as I waited, I continued re-reading the Bourne Supremacy and when I got tired of that an early novel by Streiber named Warday, which is about a war that in the book occurred in the early 80's. (I know the apostrophe is wrong, but does anyone know why it looks good anyway?) The whole time I was reading, I played a cd I had burned full of Van Halen music. I kept hearing a bird the whole time, and looking around, spotted a medium sized brown bird with while speckles and a thin beak on the branch of the tree I was parked near, and the whole time Van Halen was on, it was warbling away. A song would end and another start, the bird would stop and start again when a new tune started. That's the first time I've ever noticed a bird listening to and singing along to Van Halen...
