Had lunch at the Coffee Zone yesterday, and I discovered that it has Rioplex access. This makes it two hotspots I know of locally where you can log into the internet for free if you have a wireless card with your laptop or pda. The other one is El Pato across from the university.
Interestingly...while we were having lunch, we saw a lot of people from the university. We had been talking that it would be quite interesting to see the new UTPA president and wondering what new changes and policies she would bring to the office. I guess everybody is a little apprehensive and taking a wait-and-see attitude. But before we were through, she did show up, and the assistant, recognizing us, brought her over and introduced us. Dora, the director of the honors program, had mentioned earlier during our conversation at the table that she would like to to see an honor's college established within the next ten years. When she was introduced, the new president told her, "We'll work toward establishing an honor's college, you'll see..." Quite a coincidence, I'd say.
I have to admit that although I was the lone male in the group (just five people), it was quite an interesting and fun lunch.
